Terms of Use

The conditions that apply to this website, and the disclaimers that go with publishing legal information publicly.

Effective date: August 28, 2026

This website is published by Laura E. Brown, Attorney at Law, Fresno, California. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

This site is attorney advertising

These pages may be considered attorney advertising under the California Rules of Professional Conduct and the California Business and Professions Code. Laura E. Brown is licensed by the State Bar of California, bar number 306035, and is responsible for the content of this site. You can verify any California attorney's license and standing at the State Bar of California licensee search.

Nothing here is legal advice

Everything on this site is general information. It is not legal advice, it is not a legal opinion, and it is not a substitute for talking to a lawyer about your own situation. Law changes, and it applies differently to different facts. Statements about deadlines, procedures, and legal standards are described in general terms and carry exceptions in both directions.

Do not act, or decline to act, based on anything you read here. Consult an attorney about your specific circumstances — and do it promptly, because many legal deadlines are short and cannot be extended once missed.

No attorney-client relationship

Reading this site, submitting the contact form, sending an email, or leaving a voicemail does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship is formed only when the firm has completed a conflict-of-interest check, agreed to take the matter, and both you and the firm have signed a written engagement agreement.

Until that happens, information you send is not protected by the attorney-client privilege and the firm has no duty to preserve its confidentiality — and the firm may already represent someone with adverse interests. Please keep initial messages general and do not send confidential, sensitive, or time-critical material through this website. Call (559) 319-0586 instead.

No guarantee of results

Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome. Every case depends on its own facts, its own evidence, the applicable law, and the decisions of judges and juries that no attorney controls. Nothing on this site is a promise, warranty, or prediction about the outcome of any matter.

Any recognitions, memberships, or honors listed on this site are stated for informational purposes. They are not a certification of specialization by the State Bar of California, and they do not imply any particular result.

Jurisdiction

Laura E. Brown is licensed to practice in California and in the federal courts listed on the About page. This site is directed to people in California, principally Fresno County and the Central Valley. It is not an offer to represent anyone in a jurisdiction where the firm is not licensed, and the information here describes California law unless it says otherwise.

Scope of practice

The firm handles personal injury, car accidents, employment law, civil rights, and appeals. It does not handle criminal defense, family law, immigration, or bankruptcy. Descriptions of practice areas on this site indicate the types of matters the firm considers, not a commitment to accept any particular matter.

Third-party links and content

This site links to outside resources and embeds a Google map on the contact page. Those are provided for convenience. The firm does not control them, does not endorse their content, and is not responsible for their accuracy, availability, or privacy practices.

Intellectual property

The text, design, illustrations, and code on this site are the property of the Law Office of Laura E. Brown and are protected by copyright. You may read, print, and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. Reproducing, republishing, or adapting the content for commercial purposes without written permission is not permitted.

Availability and accuracy

This site is provided "as is." The firm makes reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and available, but does not warrant that it is free of errors, current as of any particular date, or continuously accessible. Content may be changed or removed at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Laura E. Brown, Attorney at Law is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or anything on it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here limits or alters the professional obligations the firm owes to its actual clients.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of this website will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Fresno County, California.

Changes

These terms may be updated at any time. The version posted here with the effective date above is the operative one, and continuing to use the site means accepting it.
